Jesse's House is sporting a new look with a new logo thanks to business sponsor Click Graphix, Inc. but their cause remains the same. Each day adolescent women from across the greater Atlanta-area are brought together at Jesse’s House to find something they are missing - understanding and support through a loving environment. Working with a number of young ladies, presenting a variety of different backgrounds, Jesse’s House is a non-profit organization that provides emergency and long-term care to youth who have suffered abuse or delinquency that grew out of the recognized need for a children’s emergency shelter in the North Georgia area.
The shelter has three main goals they strive for on a daily basis: to serve high risk girls between the ages of seven and seventeen who are referred from the Department of Family and Children’s Services or Department of Juvenile Justice; to reunify the residents with their families whenever possible; and to provide a safe house until appropriate placement is found.
As a gallery owner and art dealer, I am often asked what makes fine art valuable. It’s really a fundamental question to ask. What makes a $50 bill worth $50? Perhaps faith in the government who printed it? What makes an 1878 Morgan dollar worth $20? Scarcity? Demand? Condition?
These examples actually relate to the value of fine art. For thousands of years, man has created art in its various forms – at some point, someone began to value and buy it. Today, the art industry is enormous, estimated at $4 billion in the Unites States alone. Like the $50 bill, which holds it value based on the market’s faith in the government which issued it, art can be an investment vehicle based on the faith of buyers of the art market itself. Unlike currency of a specific single country, fine art is a universal currency that can be sold in any country for any currency. The Morgan Silver Dollar that was once worth $1 now sells for $20, so an individual piece of art can move many times from its original purchase value for the very same reasons previously mentioned.
The holidays are approaching. We are gearing up for the great Thanksgiving dinner with family and friends or planning for the Christmas season. However, the holidays can be a dangerous time for our pets. Each year thousands of pets are seriously injured or become deathly ill. With all the holiday season's planning, oftentimes we forget about our little four-legged family members. They are as curious and anxious as we are and there are many hazards waiting for their curiosity. Here are some safety tips for your pets to keep in mind as the holidays approach:
1983 was a big year, which saw the beginning of many winning traditions Americans continue to appreciate today a quarter of a century later. We still observe Martin Luther King Day every January. Microsoft continues to be a dominating force in the computer industry, the Internet has all but taken over the way we communicate and no one can dispute the influence of the McNugget over countless children across the nation. And where did some of these children come from? Why, North Fulton Regional Hospital, of course, which began its legacy of quality healthcare in November of this very eventful year.
10 Noteworthy Events of 1983…
When you’re in a state of panic, you can do some things really well, such as run after a bus, think up an excuse, or find a last-minute gift. Other tasks, however, require a calmer approach. You don’t want to be panicky when you’re slicing a tomato, pouring hot coffee, or preparing your taxes and you certainly don’t want to panic when you’re investing for the long term.
Yet, in the midst of the $700 billion Emergency Economic Stabilization Act, the failure of some well-known banks and investment firms, and the precipitous drop of stock prices, some investors are panicking. For them, the investment world has turned upside down.

Whether you telecommute, own a home-based business, or just have to bring work home, millions of us use a home office. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, more than 20 million Americans work from home at least once a week, and the numbers are growing by eight percent per year.
These spaces are often multi-purpose – in addition to traditional work, it may be a place for the kids to check email and do homework or where you organize your home files and pay bills. This area is often the hardest working place in our homes.
